Establishing community plant nurseries in the High Atlas

Plant nurseries in the communities of Imegdale and Ait M’hamed have been set up to enable terrace cultivation and enrichment planting of selected medicinal roots and tree crops. This is part of the Darwin-funded project addressing livelihood improvement and threats to the sustainable harvesting of medicinal roots. Global Diversity Foundation’s local partner in Morocco, the High Atlas Foundation, obtained formal permission from local and national authorities and private owners to use land dedicated to the plant nurseries, and their establishment is now well advanced.
